Welcome to CPA Power!
Hi, everybody! Bill Baylis here. Why did I start the CPA Power blog? I believe CPAs have a gift.
After my father and I shut down our very successful business for over 25 years, I've began to understand not what made it so great for 25 years. To build a business from a kitchen table to 200 employees for over 25 years.
That's a great story. But I remember most of the mistakes I've made and the millions of dollars of profit leaks that probably should have been sitting in my own bank account. That's a hard one to wrap my mind around. But where we went wrong is where I spend my time putting processes in place so business owners can learn from my tale of woe, but, also how I can help CPAs get more billable hours and even more important, the one common denominator that I've learned in my reflection of where I went wrong in my business is that it wasn't my CPA's fault. They were good people. But there's different kinds of CPAs out there who are sounding boards who help their business owners.
Understand the numbers, and that's where I went wrong. I did not run my business by the numbers. Any business that's not running their business by the numbers, and it doesn't matter to me if they're $250,000 business or a hundred-million-dollar business, when you don't run your business by the numbers, you're a glorified mom and pop shop, and there is nobody more qualified or more ready or more available to the business owner than the CPA.
So the idea of the blog is to bring the two worlds together, the business owner side, and the CFO function of a controlled, profitable business that CPAs and accountants and bookkeepers. Need to learn, need to understand, and come together and create mutually beneficial relationships.
What's in it for the CPA, accountant and bookkeeper? That's called more billable hours, working with less clients, making more of an impact that I know the industry itself values itself on. This is a different approach. They don't teach this in accounting school. They don't teach this in business school.
It comes from trial and error. However, it also has proven and built in. process that I'd like to help CPAs, this might give back to the CPA in the business world to create CPA power and bring you into awareness of a different approach of helping your clients stay in business longer, make more profits, and hopefully for the both of us, for all of us have less burden of management and help those business owner clients one day.
Sell their business for the top dollar. I call that winning the Stanley Cup of the business world.
So join me, comment, click and like my YouTube page, follow my blog, and together we'll learn how to help business owners stay in business and make a lot more money, and we'll benefit in that kind of relationship too.
